Our Sustainability Policy

It is important for us to ensure our clients experience all the wonders and magic a destination has to offer, but at the same time, we aim to continuously understand and acknowledge our social, economic and environmental responsibilities and the impacts of tourism, to strike a balance in every project that we work on. By treading lightly and responsibly and working together with stakeholders, we can contribute to both sustainable travel and the preservation of the places, people and environments that inspire the love of travel. 8th Wave is a member of Travelife and we have started the process and work towards complying with international sustainability standards.

OUR POLICY ON CHILD PROTECTION

OUR POLICY ON CHILD PROTECTION

As a responsible and ethical travel company, 8th Wave Events & Destinations has joined The Code (The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Exploitation in Travel and Tourism), to take concrete actions to prevent this.

In order to fulfil our commitment to counteract exploitation of children in travel and tourism, we have created a working policy of procedures, training of all staff, contractual clauses with clients and partners, reporting of possible cases to local authorities/NGOs and submission of reports to The Code Organization. We will set a Zero tolerance of any exploitation of children throughout our operations and in the communities in which we operate; any potential cases where a child is in danger will be reported immediately either internally, to Hotel Management or directly to relevant law enforcement.

The Code has been acknowledged by various United Nations organisations as a good practice example of tourism private sector and non-governmental organisational collaboration to combat exploitation of children.

OUR COMMITMENT TO PLASTIC POLLUTION

OUR COMMITMENT TO PLASTIC POLLUTION

8th Wave is proud to be a signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

As a signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, we endorse the common vision to address the root causes of plastic pollution. We commit to eliminate the plastic items we don’t need; innovate so all plastics we do need are designed to be safely reused, recycled, or composted; and circulate everything we use to keep it in the economy and out of the environment.
